Julien Detiège is a bold artist who creates delicate work from a lump of clay. His constructions are unstable, always on the verge of collapse. Accidents during the making process are frequent, the sculptures often need to be rebuilt. They seem to evoke labyrinthine architecture, but they are not that all. Quite the opposite. They are portraits, representations of men and women around him. Julien’s technique, his handwriting and signature are inseparable from his identity as an artist. His goal: to express in a three-dimensional way the knots and crossroads that connect us all.
