After Death in Heaven is a short autobiographical film by Thomas Baert about the passing of his father, co-written with Lukas Bossuyt. Thomas, a textile artist with Down syndrome, directed the film with professional actors and an expert crew. This unique project offers a rare glimpse into the world as seen through the eyes of someone with Down syndrome. One example: Thomas casts an “ordinary” actor (Bart Hollanders) to play himself. Werner De Smedt plays his father and Sandrine André his mother.

Thomas does not see himself as different from others.
