De Lovie Castle Park

The history of De Lovie Castle Park is as surprising as it is varied:

from luxurious summer residence to military headquarters, from tuberculosis sanatorium to medical educational institute. The park is part of the Sint-Sixtusbossen, a green lung of highly biodiverse forests on the outskirts of Poperinge.

Today, the castle park is one of the locations of De Lovie vzw, a social organisation that supports people with disabilities or increased vulnerability. The park offers peace, space and security to those who stay, work and go to school there. Walkers, cyclists and many visitors feel at home there.

As an open heritage site in full development, the castle park is buzzing with activity. With a view to the restoration and repurposing of the castle, De Lovie vzw combines its mission with social entrepreneurship. The castle houses Jules & Jolies: a gift shop, tea room and dining room.

During the summer months, you can enjoy local delicacies on the pop-up terrace overlooking the ponds.
